   Streams Poetry Project

ABOUT US

It all starts with a poem, whether it be from a local Vancouver poet or an ancient mystic, and ends with a song. Streams is a collaboration between vocalist Emma Postl and guitarist Thomas Hoeller, rooted deeply in exploring and surrendering to the flow of improvisation as a compositional practice. Streams began in 2016 on a whim while Emma and Thomas were working on songs for their other project, Moondle, and is ever evolving as they seek out new poets, new compositional practises and new collaborators.  As of 2019, Streams exists in two iterations; both as the original duo and as a full band project with the addition of Elisa Thorn (harp), Kevin Romain (drums) and James Meager (bass). These new members bring lush harmonies, beats and roots as well as their unique musical perspectives to Streams’s minimalist compositions. As a listener you may recognize verses from Mary Oliver, Rumi, and Rainer Maria Rilke as you lose yourself in their introspective, inventive and intimate sound.
